DRT Route 227 detours in Ajax over Shoal Point Road weight limits

Durham Region Transit says Route 227 trips in Ajax will detour from Oct. 30 until further notice because of weight restrictions on Shoal Point Road, with some stops not served and delays of up to 10 minutes expected.

Durham Region Transit says Route 227 trips will detour in Ajax from Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, until further notice, because of weight restrictions on Shoal Point Road south of Ashbury Boulevard. Route 227 trips will detour via Shoal Point Road, Bayly Street and Pickering Beach Road, the transit agency says.

Customers should expect delays of up to 10 minutes, Durham Region Transit says. Stops on Range Line Road will not be served during the detour, nor will stop #94290, Pickering Beach Road southbound at Dreyer Drive.

A temporary stop will be placed on Dreyer Drive, eastbound at Pickering Beach Road, the agency says. The detour follows the Town of Ajax load-posting notice for the Shoal Point Road Bridge, which put load restrictions in place effective Oct. 30, 2026.
