Special Victims Unit investigators began an investigation in July 2026 after a report that two female children had been sexually assaulted. The suspect was known to both victims’ families.
The alleged assaults occurred on numerous occasions between November 2025 and July 2026. The suspect was located in Ajax and taken into custody without incident in August 2026.
Faruk DEWAN, 63, of Pickering is charged with Sexual Assault x11 and Sexual Interference with person Under 16 x11. He was held for a bail hearing, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
The accused provides art lessons from a residence in Pickering, and investigators are concerned there may be more victims.
