Pickering rallies around mom of two in breast cancer treatment

Adrienne, a 40-year-old Pickering mother of two teenage daughters, is in treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer. Her family has launched a fundraiser — and is asking Durham Region to show up for her the way she shows up for everyone else.

A Pickering family is asking the community to rally around a 40-year-old mother of two who is in treatment for breast cancer. Adrienne is receiving treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer at the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre, and is going through chemotherapy with the support of her family and friends.

Even through treatment, her sister Meagan Wilson says, Adrienne keeps showing up for everyone else. She supports young adults with disabilities through Progressive Steps, is working toward a bachelor's degree in behavioural science, and runs Alignment With Adrienne, her own wellness practice that helps people find balance and reconnect with themselves.

"Now it's our turn to show up for her," Meagan says. The family has launched a GoFundMe to support Adrienne and her daughters through treatment, and is looking into local markets and booths where they can share her story and showcase her practice.

The family says donations and shares both make a difference, helping Adrienne focus on her treatment and her daughters. You can donate directly to Adrienne's own fundraiser, "Standing with Adrienne," at https://gofund.me/9209b292f — and her sister Meagan's GoFundMe page, which carries updates on Adrienne's treatment, is at https://gofund.me/192565b6b
