The City of Pickering is renewing its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan for 2026 to 2030 and is asking residents to share feedback through an online survey and a series of November focus groups, according to the city's Let's Talk Pickering engagement page.
In-person sessions take place at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (O'Brien Room): Tuesday, November 3 at 9:30 a.m. for people with disabilities, at 1:30 p.m. for family members and caregivers, and Thursday, November 5 at 9:30 a.m. for community organizations and service providers. An additional session runs Thursday, November 5 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Pickering Central Library.
Virtual sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 (7 to 8:30 p.m.) for people with disabilities, Thursday, November 12 (7 to 8:30 p.m.) for caregivers, and Tuesday, November 17 (7 to 8:30 p.m.) for organizations. Registration links are available on the engagement page.
Ontario municipalities are required under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act to maintain a multi-year accessibility plan; Pickering's current plan concludes at the end of 2025. The city says about 27 per cent of its residents live with at least one disability.
