The Oshawa Generals bounced back from Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Peterborough Petes with a 5-0 shutout victory Friday night at the Tribute Communities Centre, completing the second half of the home-and-home rivalry series, the club reported.

Goaltender Matthew Humphries turned aside all 30 shots he faced for his first career OHL shutout, while goals came from Linus Funck, Tyler Hinde, Kane Cloutier, Anthony Timmerman and Jacob Therrien. Funck's first-period shorthanded tally stood up as the game winner.

The victory moved Oshawa past Peterborough into fourth place in the OHL's Eastern Division, with a single point separating the rivals. The Generals host the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday night, with puck drop scheduled for 6:05 PM.
