The Oshawa Generals dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the rival Peterborough Petes on Thursday night in Peterborough, squandering a two-goal lead after the second period. Onni Kalto scored twice and added an assist to earn the game's second star in the losing effort.
Oshawa fell behind 2-0 in the opening minutes on goals by Landon Roulston and Leon Kolarik, but answered with three unanswered goals from Tyler Hinde, Kalto and Brooks Rogowski to take a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. Kalto struck again early in the second to make it 4-2, before the Petes scored once in the second and once in the third to force overtime. A late go-ahead goal by Rogowski was overturned on an offside call, and Peterborough capitalized in the extra frame to seal the win.
The Generals get an immediate rematch at home on Friday, October 23, when they host the Petes at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa at 7:05 p.m.
