The Durham Catholic District School Board resolved at its September 28 meeting to declare its former Father Joseph Venini Catholic Elementary School at 120 Glovers Road in Oshawa surplus and sell it. Immanuel Christian School has leased the building for years; it now houses 250 elementary students and 30 staff, with the lease running to June 2028.

Immanuel Christian School is appealing to politicians and supporters and has launched a capital fundraising campaign, 'The Faithful 1000,' hoping to raise enough to make an offer on the property. The school shared its full responses to Durham Post questions about the situation, and the Post reports the board's surplus decision leaves the school's future uncertain.
