Durham Regional Police say officers responded on Saturday, September 19, to an unknown-trouble call near Bond Street East and Wilson Road North in Oshawa.
According to the police account, a woman agreed to attend the residence of a man she had met through Snapchat. Police allege that she was drugged and contacted police after regaining consciousness during the sexual assault.
Officers found the woman outside the residence and took her to a local-area hospital. The hospital confirmed a quantity of noxious substances in her system, according to the release. The suspect was later taken into custody without incident.
The release identifies the accused as Nicholas Paul LAFRANCE, 23, of Oshawa. He is charged with sexual assault, administer noxious substance and forcible confinement, and was held for a bail hearing.
Police say they are concerned there may be other victims. Information can be provided to D/Cst. Brown of the Special Victims Unit at 1-888-579-1520, extension 5305. Anonymous tips can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Police state that the allegations have yet to be proven in court.
