Oshawa will swear in its 2026–2030 City Council at the Tribute Communities Centre on Monday, November 16, at 9:30 a.m., the City says. The inaugural meeting will include the swearing-in of Mayor-elect Tito-Dante Marimpietri and council members, marking the start of the new council term.
For the first time in the City's modern history, the inaugural meeting is being planned to accommodate a broad public attendance, the City says. With the Council Chamber holding about 75 people, holding the meeting at the larger venue will let more community members, along with family and friends of newly elected council members, attend the start of the new term.
The meeting also recognizes the 20th anniversary of the Tribute Communities Centre, a City-owned building. Oshawa-based artist Dani Crosby was commissioned to create an original poster marking the venue's two decades of bringing audiences together in downtown Oshawa, and a limited number of free copies will be available at the meeting.
Community members can enter as early as 8:30 a.m. at Gate 1, the building's main entrance at Athol Street and Mary Street. No registration or R.S.V.P. is required. Parking is available at Parking Garage 3 on Mary Street, with accessible parking on Red Tilson Lane, and the meeting will be livestreamed on the City's website and televised on RogersTV Durham.
