The Municipality of Clarington opened registration September 21 for its 2026–27 Snow Clearing Program for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities. Applications close October 31, and the seasonal fee is $107.69.
The program assists with clearing municipal sidewalks in front of and beside a participant’s property, as well as the snow windrow at the end of the driveway. Service is initiated within 24 hours after snowfall ends only when more than 7.5 centimetres accumulates in a single storm; residents are responsible for clearing less than that amount.
Applicants must be at least 65 or have a physical disability certified by a licensed medical doctor. Eligible households must not have an able-bodied resident under 65 living in the home, and the residence must be a single-family home in an eligible urban area.
Returning participants can register online through their existing Be Active account. New applicants and people with a temporary disability must register in person at the Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre, Courtice Community Complex, Diane Hamre Recreation Complex, Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex or South Courtice Arena.
