The Town of Ajax has picked up four Gold Awards and one Honourable Mention at the 2026 MarCom Awards, the Town announced on November 4. Three Town projects were recognized across five categories, with the Communications & Engagement and Recreation & Culture teams behind the winning entries.
The Town's redesigned website took two Gold Awards, in the Government and Redesign categories. The Town says the new site, which launched June 25, 2026, offers a modern design, easier navigation and a better experience for residents, businesses and visitors looking for information, programs and services. It is designed to work on phones, tablets and computers, and translation is available in 20 languages.
The Digital Recreation Guide also earned two Gold Awards, in the Guide and Portal categories. The interactive guide, launched August 6, 2026, lets residents browse recreation programs and activities, filter by category, location, age group and day or time, and build a customized PDF guide. It includes location mapping and links into registration, and residents can also use it through kiosks at the Town's community recreation centres.
The third honour, an Honourable Mention in the series category, went to the Elevate Girls: International Day of the Girl video series. The Town says the series marked International Day of the Girl in October, highlighting girls in sport and the importance of welcoming, inclusive spaces, alongside in-person activities and a contest that has now closed.
MarCom Awards is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals, administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The Town notes the competition has run since 2004, and that a Gold Award goes to entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm.
Town Chief Administrative Officer Shane Baker said the international recognition reflected the creativity, dedication and collaboration of staff across the organization, and credited both teams for finding new ways to connect residents with Town services.
