Durham Regional Police have charged a 30-year-old Ajax man in connection with a fraud investigation involving a residential construction project in Ajax, the service said in a release issued Oct. 15, 2026.
Police say the victim hired Aria Build Corporation in August 2024 to complete the construction of a residence in Ajax and dealt directly with the company's owner. As part of the agreed payment schedule, the victim provided the company with $56,560 so the residence could be enrolled in a Tarion Warranty, and the payment was deposited into a bank account associated with the company.
A dispute later arose over the payment schedule and the completion of the residence, and police say the company ceased work on the property. The victim then contacted Tarion to ask what warranty protections were available for the unfinished residence and learned the property had never been enrolled and was not protected as believed.
Behzad Ayon, age 30, owner of Aria Build Corp., is charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. All charges are allegations that have not been tested in court. Police say they are concerned there may be further victims and are asking anyone with information, or anyone who believes they may have been a victim in similar circumstances, to contact Durham Regional Police at 1-888-579-1520 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
