Durham College's Barrett Centre of Innovation in Sustainable Urban Agriculture hosted its Fall Farm Open House in Ajax on Oct. 8, giving the community a final autumn chance to connect with the farm's local produce before winter.

The centre, which opened in 2023 on Harwood Avenue North, teaches community members about the role of local farms and produce. Durham College horticulture and agriculture students grow vegetables, herbs and honey from the centre's own beehive, all available for purchase on Thursdays throughout the harvest season.

The Barrett Centre will relocate to Durham College's Whitby campus next September when its Ajax lease ends. The centre plans a community farewell in Ajax, with a corn roast proposed for the first week of next August.
