Ajax man, 66, charged with two sexual assaults; police fear more victims

A 66-year-old Ajax man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault in connection with incidents in July and September where police say a man approached women, tried to make conversation, then assaulted them.

Durham Regional Police have arrested and charged a 66-year-old Ajax man in connection with two sexual assaults in Ajax.

Police say that on July 9, 2026 at about 8:30 a.m., a man approached a woman in the area of Harwood Avenue North and Rossland Road, attempted to make conversation and shake her hand, then sexually assaulted her and fled. A second incident occurred on September 15, 2026 at about 3:15 p.m., when a man approached a woman along the Miller Creek Trail south of Rossland Road near Bennet Avenue, attempted conversation, then sexually assaulted her and left on foot.

Hakim Hussainzada, 66, of Ajax has been charged with two counts of sexual assault. Police say they are concerned there may be other victims and ask anyone who had a similar interaction to contact D/Cst.
