Ajax Fire has named this year's Fire Chief for a Day: Lokesh, a student at Lincoln Avenue Public School in Ajax, chosen from 573 contest submissions for a winning poster showing a strong grasp of fire-safety messages, including family escape plans, emergency kits and regular smoke-alarm testing.

The Town says Lokesh received a surprise presentation at the school on Wednesday afternoon, and the prize day includes overseeing a school fire drill and touring Ajax Fire Station 1.

Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kevin Vaughan congratulated the winner in the announcement. The winner is identified by first name only, as in the announcement.
