Durham Region Transit says Route 421 is detouring because of construction on Trulls Road, between Avondale Drive and Sandringham Drive. The change began September 8, 2026, and the agency lists it as continuing until further notice.
On the detour, buses travel via Brownstone Crescent, Granary Lane and Sandringham Drive. The route bypasses Stop #1230, Avondale southbound at Farmington; Stop #1231, Trulls northbound at Avondale; and Stop #1232, northbound at 2501 Trulls.
At affected stops, riders can board at Stop #1229, Avondale southbound at Brownstone, or Stop #1233, Sandringham westbound at Bushford. DRT gives no end date beyond saying the detour remains in effect until further notice; its service-alert page is the place to check for changes.
