No GO trains on Lakeshore East this weekend as buses replace service Nov. 7-8

GO Transit will run buses instead of trains on the Lakeshore East line Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8, with late-evening adjustments Friday, Nov. 6, for track signal work between Guildwood and Rouge Hill.

There will be no GO train service on the Lakeshore East line on Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8, while crews carry out track signal work between Guildwood GO Station and Rouge Hill GO Station. GO buses will replace train service, and regular train service will resume Monday, Nov. 9, according to Metrolinx.

GO Transit says there will be no GO Transit service at Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough or Danforth GO stations during the closure. Durham stations - Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Durham College Oshawa - will be served by GO buses instead of trains.

Some trips will depart later than usual on Friday, Nov. 6, with late-evening service adjustments that night, and some train trips over the weekend will be cancelled and replaced by GO buses. The work includes installing new structures - intermediate signal bungalows and two new crossing bungalows - which house rail controls.

Riders using PRESTO should tap on the device when boarding and exiting the GO bus, not on the machines at the station, and can load money through the PRESTO app or buy tickets online. GO Transit announced the Nov. 7-8 adjustments on Oct. 15 and updated the alert on Nov. 2; the work is part of ongoing Lakeshore East construction.
