Durham Region says its ID and Benefits Access Hubs will be available this fall to provide one-on-one assistance with government benefits and community supports.
October 19: Whitby Public Library, 405 Dundas Street West, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. October 20: Ajax Public Library, 55 Harwood Avenue South, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 22: Clarington Library, Museums and Archives, 163 Church Street in Bowmanville, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Region says staff can help residents access the Canada Pension Plan, Canadian Dental Care Plan, Canada Disability Benefit, Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program. Help to obtain or replace identification such as a Social Insurance Number, birth certificate and health card will also be available; some photo ID and driver’s-licence services may have fees.
The other listed supports include help with simple tax filing for people with no income or modest income, forms and applications, and navigation to housing, food, employment, transit, social services and mental-health supports. Food hampers will be available while supplies last.
