Uxbridge is bringing back its Brook Never Sleeps youth program on Friday, November 13. The Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee will host the free, full-day event to introduce local youth to the ecology of Uxbridge Brook.
The workshop is designed for children ages 8 to 12 and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall. November 13 is a PA Day for both elementary and high school students; lunch and snacks will be provided.
Activities include trapping minnows, surveying the creek for benthic creatures and learning about watershed ecology. Scales Nature Park, Ontario Streams and the Uxbridge Fire Department are also scheduled to visit, bringing live animals and water-safety learning.
Part of the workshop takes place outdoors, so the Township advises participants to dress for the weather. The event is made possible with Scales Nature Park, Ontario Streams, Bird Friendly Uxbridge and the Township of Uxbridge.
