Uxbridge voters got to hear directly from their candidates on Monday, Sept. 28, when the Uxbridge Cosmos hosted a municipal all-candidates forum at the Uxbridge Arena & Community Centre starting at 7 p.m.
The forum covered the marquee local races: the candidates for mayor, for regional councillor, and for Durham District School Board trustee — the people who will shape the township's next four years at the town, regional and school board tables.
The Cosmos invited residents to come hear the candidates and ask their own questions, billing the night as a chance for the community to learn what the next four years could hold for Uxbridge.
The full recording — about 2 hours and 55 minutes — has been posted to YouTube by the Cosmos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM9OgpAO3aw
Context for voters: Uxbridge elects one mayor, one regional councillor and five ward councillors, along with school board trustees representing the area.
What's next: Uxbridge votes Oct. 26, with online voting from Oct. 13 to 26. Voters should check the voters' list by Oct. 9 at uxbridge.voterservices.ca — a Voter Information Letter with a PIN is going out in early October. In-person help is available at town hall (51 Toronto St. S., with extended hours including Oct. 26 until 8 p.m.), the Uxbridge Public Library (9 Toronto St. S.), the Goodwood Community Centre (Thursday, Oct. 15, 4–9 p.m.) and the Zephyr Community Centre (Thursday, Oct. 22, 2–8 p.m.).
