A woman suffered serious injuries and four other people were hurt in a multi-vehicle collision on Thickson Road North, south of Highway 407, in Whitby on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Durham Regional Police say. Police were called to the scene at about 6:05 p.m.

Police say a northbound vehicle lost control, entered the southbound lane and struck another vehicle, setting off further collisions involving traffic in both directions. Five vehicles carrying seven people were involved, police say.

The woman was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and four other occupants were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police say. The DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene, the road was closed for several hours while evidence was collected, and the investigation is ongoing.
