Durham Regional Police say they are looking for a suspect after a 16-year-old girl was robbed in Whitby on Wednesday, October 28. Police say Central West Division officers responded to a robbery call at about 4 p.m. in the area of Rossland Road West and Country Lane.

According to police, the teenager was walking to a bus stop when a man riding an electric scooter rode past her, pushed her to the ground and tried to take her belongings. Police say she ran across the road to get away, and the man followed her, pushed her down again and assaulted her before fleeing east on Rossland Road West on the e-scooter. The victim suffered minor injuries, police say.

Police describe the suspect as a 19-year-old man with a slim build and facial hair, wearing a black balaclava, all black clothing and blue Nike shoes, and riding a black and red e-scooter. Anyone with cellphone, dashcam or surveillance footage, or other information, is asked to contact the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1805.
