The Uxbridge Curling Club has received a $200,000 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to replace its failing building roof membrane, durhamregion.com reported Tuesday. Pickering-Uxbridge MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy met with club members on October 2 to congratulate them on the grant.

The work will replace the 65-year-old roof membrane on the wood-framed roof, replace the underside sheathing and add insulation beneath the new membrane, and is scheduled from mid-April to September 1, 2027 to minimize the impact on curling operations.

The club has more than 300 members and runs on volunteers, keeping fees affordable, and operates a youth program that offers free ice time to local schools.
