Youth charged after 3D-printed firearm parts seized in Pickering

A youth faces charges after DRPS investigators seized a 3D printer and an incomplete polymer receiver for a 3D-printable semi-automatic firearm at a Pickering residence. Allegations have not been proven in court.

On September 30, 2026, members of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch began an investigation after receiving information from multiple sources, including international policing partners, alleging that a youth had made online comments about producing firearms with a 3D printer, according to DRPS.

On October 1, investigators with the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch, assisted by the West Crime Team and E-Crimes unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Pickering. Officers seized various electronic devices, a 3D printer, and an incomplete polymer lower receiver for an Urutau, a 3D-printable semi-automatic firearm.
