DDSB posts 2025–2026 EQAO results: literacy strong, math a focus

The Durham District School Board has posted its highlights from the 2025–2026 provincial Education Quality and Accountability Office assessments, reporting continued strong achievement in literacy across elementary grades and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.

According to the board, 85 per cent of Grade 6 students met the provincial standard in reading and 84 per cent in writing, while 73 per cent of Grade 3 students met the standard in reading and 66 per cent in writing. The board's OSSLT success rate held strong at 86 per cent, and Grade 6 French Immersion students reached 94 per cent in reading and writing.

Mathematics remains an area of focus: Grade 6 math improved slightly to 48 per cent and Grade 9 math remained stable at 58 per cent, with the board noting continued targeted support especially for multilingual language learners and students with individual education plans.
