The Durham-York Energy Centre at 1835 Energy Drive in Courtice is hosting a free family open house on Monday, October 26, 2026 — a P.A. Day at local schools — from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guided tours will visit the control room, the waste pit and the facility's well-known 'claw', with lessons on the five 'R's, interactive games, activity books, stickers, temporary tattoos and photo opportunities, plus information displays and Q&A with the DYEC team.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, and no pre-registration is required.
