The Clarington Outdoor Garba Fest brought colour, music and community spirit to Bowmanville on Saturday, Sept 26, as families and residents gathered at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex for an evening of Garba and Dandiya dancing, according to the Durham Post.

Organized by the non-profit Unity in Diversity, the outdoor celebration under a bright harvest moon welcomed experienced dancers as well as many first-timers, with live music by Harita Desai and Pratik Peters alongside local musicians and 16 prizes handed out during the evening's entertainment.

The event also raised a $1,111 donation for the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation, presented on stage — a charitable component Unity in Diversity says continues its commitment to pairing cultural celebrations with support for local community causes.
