Check the Voters' List

Your name must be on the voters' list to cast a ballot. Most municipalities allow you to check your status and submit corrections online starting September 1, 2026.

Am I eligible to vote?

You are eligible if on Election Day you are: a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident in the municipality (or owner/tenant of land there), and not prohibited from voting under any law.

Voter Information Letter or Notification Card

If your name is on the voters' list, you will receive a voter notification card or information letter in the mail in early to mid-October with your unique voting credentials, ward, school support designation, and voting dates and locations.

School support designation

School support designation helps property owners and tenants identify which school board they wish to support. Your school support defaults to the English Public school board unless you have designated otherwise. The deadline to update with MPAC was June 1, 2026. You can still update with your municipality until October 26.

Certified candidates

Each municipality maintains a list of certified candidates for mayor, councillor, and school board trustee positions. Nominations closed Friday, August 21, 2026, and candidate lists were certified on August 24, 2026. Visit your municipal election page for the complete list.

Election Day logistics

Some schools used as voting locations may close on Voting Day; check your school board and municipality. Each municipality provides accessibility accommodations and assistance for voters who need help. Most municipalities offer Voter Assistance Centres where election officials can help you cast your ballot.
