Durham Regional Police say Nicholas Paul LAFRANCE, 23, of Oshawa has been charged following a sexual assault investigation. Police say the allegations have not been proven in court.
Police say officers responded on Saturday, September 19, to an unknown-trouble call near Bond Street East and Wilson Road North. The police release says the woman had met a man through Snapchat and later contacted police after regaining consciousness during an assault.
According to the release, officers found the woman outside the residence and she was taken to a local-area hospital, which confirmed a quantity of noxious substances in her system. Police say the suspect was later taken into custody without incident.
LAFRANCE is charged with sexual assault, administering a noxious substance and forcible confinement. Police say he was held for a bail hearing.
DRPS asks anyone with information about this or similar incidents to contact D/Cst. Brown of the Special Victims Unit at 1-888-579-1520, extension 5305. The service says anonymous tips may be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
