The Town of Whitby says there is no plan to rename Whitby's waterfront and that Lake Ontario is not being renamed.
Whitby's waterfront includes Iroquois Beach Park, Kiwanis Heydenshore Park and Lion’s Promenade at Whitby Harbour. The Town also points to the Waterfront Trail, Port Whitby Marina and Whitby Harbour Lighthouse among the area's features.
The notice says the Town is keeping the waterfront and lake names as work continues on trail improvements, marina planning and the future transformation of the James Rowe House.
