Pair charged after loaded firearm seized in Whitby gun investigation

Durham police say a loaded firearm with a prohibited over-capacity magazine was seized after investigators located two suspects in the area of Dundas Street East and Garden Street in Whitby on September 30.

A male and a female are facing charges following a firearm investigation in Whitby, Durham Regional Police say.

Investigators with the DRPS Gun and Gang Unit concluded the investigation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after locating the two suspects in the area of Dundas Street East and Garden Street. Police say a search of the suspects turned up a loaded firearm fitted with a prohibited over-capacity magazine.

Police say the male suspect was on release conditions at the time of his arrest prohibiting him from possessing weapons or cell phones and requiring him to remain in his residence at all times. Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
