407 ETR is committing $2 million to the Ontario Shores Foundation for Mental Health in Whitby to expand specialized trauma and post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI) care for first responders, health-care workers and others, the company announced.

The multi-year funding will help increase clinical staffing, strengthen peer-support collaborations with paramedic services, and support province-wide awareness efforts to encourage earlier treatment. 407 ETR says the gift brings its total investment in the cause to $7 million.

Ontario Shores notes that demand for trauma and PTSI treatment continues to outpace available capacity, with an average wait time of three months for trauma care and more than 1,800 patients accessing its trauma and PTSD services each year.
