Scugog residents will get another chance to size up their candidates on Monday, Oct. 13, when the Scugog 2026 Municipal Candidate Debate for Ward 4 takes place at the Nestleton Community Centre. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the debate begins at 6 p.m.

The debate is independently organized by community member Jennifer King, who says the event is not affiliated with or endorsing any candidate or campaign. The stated goal: give candidates the chance to answer meaningful questions and give residents the information they need to decide for themselves.

The debate will feature candidates for Mayor of Scugog, Regional Councillor and Ward 4 Councillor, with questions focused on the issues residents have said matter most to their communities.

A dedicated YouTube channel has been created for the debate, and a recording is expected afterward so residents who can't attend can still hear every answer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3TgBBZslfw

The organizers' message to voters is simple: ask questions, listen, decide — and subscribe for debate updates and candidate responses.

With election day on Oct. 26, the Oct. 13 debate is among the last scheduled chances for Scugog voters to compare the candidates side by side before voting begins.
