Man charged with second-degree murder after Port Perry homicide

Durham Regional Police have charged a 33-year-old Port Perry man with second-degree murder after a 32-year-old man was found dead with traumatic injuries near Water Street and Mary Street on Tuesday morning. Police say the victim was Taylor John Frey, 32, of Port Perry, and that this is Durham Region's fourth homicide of 2026.

Durham Regional Police have charged a 33-year-old Port Perry man with second-degree murder after a 32-year-old man was found dead in Port Perry on Tuesday morning. Police identified the victim as Taylor John Frey, 32, of Port Perry, and say his death is Durham Region's fourth homicide of 2026.

According to the DRPS release, officers from North Division responded to a sudden-death call around 8 a.m. on Oct. 6 in the area of Water Street and Mary Street, where they located a male with traumatic injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The homicide unit began an investigation and arrested a suspect at about 2:30 p.m. without incident.

Ryan Bullock, 33, of Port Perry is charged with second-degree murder and was held for a bail hearing. Police describe the incident as isolated and say there is no concern for public safety. The allegations have yet to be proven in court.
