Registration for Pickering's 2026/27 Snow Clearing Program closes Thursday, Oct. 16. The program runs Nov. 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027 and is open to residents 65 and older, or those under 65 with proof of a permanent physical or cognitive disability.

To qualify, applicants must live in urban Pickering (south of Taunton Road) or the hamlets of Brougham, Claremont, Greenwood or Whitevale, own and occupy a single dwelling on a municipal street, and have no one aged 18 to 65 in the home (with exceptions). Applicants with proof of a permanent disability get priority; if demand exceeds the 750-household capacity, remaining spaces are assigned by electronic lottery.

Fees are income-tiered from $0 for Guaranteed Annual Income Supplement recipients up to $240.69 including HST. Applications go by mail with supporting documents and a cheque post-dated to Oct. 16, payable to the City of Pickering.
