Sidewalks on both sides of Liverpool Road between Pickering Parkway and Bayly Street will close on a rotating basis starting Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, while the City of Pickering carries out road improvements along the busy corridor, according to a city notice.
The closures will run until Monday, Jan. 25, 2027. The city says access to one side of the sidewalk will remain open to the public at all times while the work is underway, and closure and detour signage will be updated daily as the work side shifts.
The affected stretch connects two well-travelled corridors in Pickering, with Pickering Parkway at the north end and Bayly Street at the south. Pedestrians, including commuters heading to nearby transit stops, shoppers and residents, should expect to cross the road and follow posted detour routes during the project, checking signs each day rather than relying on a fixed pattern.
Residents with questions can contact the city's Engineering Services Department: inspector Michael Manion at 905-420-4660 ext. 2124 or mmanion@pickering.ca, or supervisor Joe Mitschang at ext. 2030 or jmitschang@pickering.ca. The city also lists a service disruption line at 1-866-278-9993. Source: City of Pickering notice.
