Drivers are asked to slow down, obey posted speed limits and traffic signs, and avoid parking in fire routes or blocking driveways and sidewalks. Stopping is prohibited in no-stopping zones, including for drop-offs and pickups.
In no-parking zones, brief stops are permitted only while actively picking up or dropping off children, and drivers must remain in their vehicles. The city also says vehicles may not park within 10 metres of any intersection, including a T-intersection, even without posted signs.
The city reminds motorists to stop for crossing guards holding a stop paddle, wait until all children have crossed and obey school-bus signals. Loading zones for school buses are reserved for buses and vehicles under contract with school boards.
