Oshawa seeks Indigenous writers for waterfront public art project

The City of Oshawa has launched a call for Expressions of Interest from Indigenous writers, poets, artists, Knowledge Holders and storytellers for a language and culture public art project at Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park. Applications close November 5.

The City of Oshawa has opened a call for Expressions of Interest for an Indigenous language and culture public art project to be installed in Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park at 169 Harbour Rd, adjacent to Lakeview Park.

The two-stage competition is open to Indigenous creative writers, poets, artists, Knowledge Holders or storytellers connected to or from the seven Williams Treaties First Nations. The selected writer will be commissioned, with a $12,000 fee, to develop a text-based artwork installed near the Garden of Human Rights.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on November 5, 2026, according to the City's artist calls page.
