The City of Oshawa and Durham Regional Police did not respond to a request for comment from Durham Post about how security is ensured in the downtown, as debate grows over forcing downtown institutions to take responsibility for securing their own premises.

Durham Post names the Canadian Automotive Museum and the Masonic Hall among the downtown institutions at the centre of the debate, and reports the issue is rivalling the October 26 municipal election as a local topic of conversation.
