The City of Oshawa is supporting Treat Accessibly, a grassroots movement encouraging Canadians to make trick-or-treating safe, inclusive and accessible for all. Residents can pick up a free Treat Accessibly lawn sign at Oshawa City Hall, the Civic Recreation Complex, Delpark Homes Centre, Donevan Recreation Complex, Northview Community Centre and South Oshawa Community Centre, as well as Oshawa Public Library branches.
The city shares tips for an inclusive Halloween: hand out treats from an easy-to-reach spot like the end of the driveway, keep paths clear and well-lit, avoid strobe lights and sudden loud noises, keep pets away from the front of the house, and offer non-edible treats such as stickers or pencils in a separate bowl. Treat Accessibly 2026 is supported by Canadian Tire, Kinder and RE/MAX; details are at treataccessibly.com and oshawa.ca/AccessiblePrograms.
