Oshawa Animal Services is partnering with PetSmart Charities of Canada to help more pets find homes during National Adoption Week, taking place Oct. 19 to 25, 2026.

Throughout the week, residents can meet adoptable kittens, cats and small animals at PetSmart Oshawa North, at 891 Taunton Rd. E., and PetSmart Ritson, at 222 Ritson Rd. N., Unit 1. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to explain the adoption process and help match animals with households.

The city says adopting a pet frees up shelter space for other animals in need while giving an animal a second chance, and notes pets can reduce loneliness, encourage physical activity and help children develop responsibility and compassion. The full list of adoptable animals is at oshawa.ca/Adoption. Sources: City of Oshawa, Oct. 16, 2026.
