Three of Lakeridge Health's hospitals — Ajax Pickering Hospital, Oshawa Hospital and Bowmanville Hospital — are among 26 Ontario hospitals joining phase two of the province's Emergency Department Action Team (EDAT), which works to reduce emergency department wait times.

The team applies methodologies to streamline processes, identify bottlenecks and improve patient flow. The province is investing more than $47 million into the team over four years.

EDAT began with five emergency departments at three hospital organizations — The Ottawa Hospital, Windsor Regional Hospital and Royal Victoria Region Health Care — and is now expanding to more hospitals across Ontario.
