Voters across Durham Region head to the polls on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, to elect mayors, councillors and school board trustees. Internet voting is already open in Oshawa (Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. to Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.) and Uxbridge (Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. to Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.), with online or telephone voting opening Oct. 14 in Scugog, Oct. 17 in Brock, Oct. 19 in Pickering and Ajax, and Oct. 20 in Clarington, according to each municipality's official election page.

Whitby is the outlier: the town offers in-person voting and special mail-in ballots only, with no online or telephone voting. Advance in-person voting runs Oct. 22 to Oct. 25, and voting day polls are open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 at 19 voting locations across the town.

Oshawa's mayoral race is an open seat — nine candidates are registered and Dan Carter is not seeking re-election, according to the city's official candidate register. Voters should check their own municipality's election page for their assigned voting location, ID requirements and voter-assistance centre hours.
