Durham Region facilities close Oct 12 for Thanksgiving; DRT on weekend service

All Durham Regional facilities will be closed on Monday, October 12, for Thanksgiving Day, the Region announced. That includes Regional Headquarters in Whitby, Provincial Offences Courts and offices, Ontario Works offices, Child Care and Early Years Division offices, and all Regional front counters.

The Region's eight Directly Operated Early Learning and Child Care centres, all Family Services Durham locations, and Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge will also close, as will Adult Day Programs at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa and Lakeview Manor in Beaverton. Health Department programs including oral health, sexual health, breastfeeding and immunization clinics will be unavailable, and water sample drop-off and pickup is also closed Friday, October 9.

Durham Region Transit will run weekend service on the holiday; its Specialized and On Demand call centre will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the DRT customer service call centre and the Ajax desk will be closed. The Primary Care Outreach Program continues daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Durham Region Outreach homelessness support remains available.
