Durham College has wrapped up its Campus Safety Week, using the week to spotlight the safety programs available to students at its Oshawa and Whitby campuses, The Chronicle reports.

The Campus Walk escort program, which runs from September through the end of April, lets students who feel uneasy walking to a car or bus stop ask campus security for a walking escort, according to campus safety director Peter Trimble. The college's red Code Blue emergency poles at both campuses connect callers directly to security at the push of a button.

The week also highlighted the Campus Emergency Response Team, a group of student volunteers trained as first responders or emergency medical responders through the Canadian Red Cross who can provide advanced first aid on campus.
