Durham Regional Police are increasing patrols and officer numbers at places of worship and gathering areas in the Jewish community ahead of Wednesday's three-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks on Israel, Durham Radio News reports.

The force describes the increased presence as proactive and a precaution, and says it is working with community partners, faith-based organizations and leaders.

Police urge the public to report suspicious activity: call 911 in an emergency, or 1-888-579-1520 or online reporting for non-emergencies. 'There is no place for hate, intimidation, or discrimination in Durham Region,' DRPS says, pledging to thoroughly investigate hate- or bias-motivated incidents.
