DDSB says rapid residential development and continued registrations are putting enrolment pressure on growing areas of Whitby and Pickering.
Students registered after June 30, 2026, in the Whitby Meadows Public School growth-boundary area will attend Robert Munsch Public School, while those in the Josiah Henson Public School growth-boundary area will attend Highbush Public School. Thirteen portables have been added at Whitby Meadows, and Josiah Henson is starting the school year with 14 portables.
As registrations continued, the board began an overflow process. New registrations in the Whitby Meadows boundary are currently directed to E.A. Fairman Public School, while new registrations in the Josiah Henson boundary are currently directed to Highbush Public School.
The board says the growth-boundary and overflow measures do not move pupils already enrolled at Whitby Meadows or Josiah Henson. It will contact affected families directly and may identify more overflow schools as registrations and available space change.
