North Street lane restrictions scheduled in Newcastle from September 15 to December 31

Daytime restrictions are planned while crews build a multi-use walkway and place surface asphalt to support new development.

The affected stretch runs along North Street from 200 metres north of Grady Drive to 370 metres south of Concession Road 3 in Newcastle.

The Region of Durham says the restrictions will be in place during the daytime only. Unfavourable weather could affect the work schedule.

Drivers are being asked to use caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

The Council decision occurred in August 2026 and the municipal notices were issued in September 2026.

The event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, 2440 Durham Highway 2, Bowmanville.

An interactive map is open from September 1 to October 13, 2026, and a community workshop is scheduled for October 13.
