Oct 14 deadline to comment on Ajax Official Plan background reports

The Town of Ajax is reminding residents that the commenting deadline for the Background Reports in its Official Plan Review is October 14, 2026. The reports are the foundation of the review that will shape how Ajax grows over the next 25 years.

Six Background Reports are available on the town's engagement page: Population and Employment Forecast, Growth Management Policy Review, Commercial Land Needs Strategy, Employment Areas Strategy, Climate Resilience and Greenlands System Policy Review, and the General and Cultural Heritage Background Report, along with plain-language Discussion Briefs on topics such as population, housing, employment, climate resilience and equity.

The town held four public open houses this summer on the review. The current Official Plan Review — the first since 2014 — will merge the Ajax Official Plan with the Regional Official Plan (Envision Durham) into a single document guiding development to 2051.
