The Town of Ajax has once again been recognized as a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition as part of the 2026 Bicycle Friendly Community Awards, presented annually at the Ontario Bike Summit. Ajax is one of five Ontario municipalities to receive silver status in 2026.

It is the town's third year receiving the silver designation; Ajax first achieved Silver status in 2017. Municipalities are assessed on infrastructure, education, encouragement, enforcement, equity, planning and evaluation.

Ajax's cycling network extends over 180 kilometres, and its Shared E-scooter and E-bike Pilot Program has surpassed 70,000 trips since 2023. The announcement quotes Mayor Shaun Collier and Armi De Francia, the town's Active Transportation Coordinator, who also received the Norma Moores Award at the Ontario Bike Summit. According to the Coalition, 20 per cent of Ontarians — about 3.2 million people — ride a bicycle at least once a week.
